Marvel has an impressive catalogue of superhero films. Following the gradual integration of all of these films via Avengers, we were introduced to a new team that had never before made it onto screen. The Guardians of the Galaxy. Being the first film of its kind for Marvel meant that this universe could be built from the ground up. And as a result, it became a wild and visionary space opera, vivid and expressive with scenes that look as though they could have been plucked straight from the comic book panels.

It was important to the creators that this universe, though cosmic and abstracted from our understanding of the every day, remain as grounded as possible, so as to maintain a level of believability. From expansive landscapes and vast ancient alien sites down to Peter’s leather jacket and walkman, the small details are crafted and arranged in such a way that immersion is assured.
